π§ TECHNICAL INDICATORS
Moving Averages (MA)
Most Popular Indicator Trend FollowingWhat It Is: Average price over X periods (smooths out noise!)
Types:
• SMA (Simple): Plain average
• EMA (Exponential): Weighs recent prices more (faster!)
Popular Settings:
• 20 MA (short-term trend)
• 50 MA (medium-term trend)
• 200 MA (long-term trend, VERY important!)
How To Use:
• Price above MA: Uptrend (buy!)
• Price below MA: Downtrend (sell!)
• Golden Cross: 50 MA crosses above 200 MA = strong buy signal!
• Death Cross: 50 MA crosses below 200 MA = strong sell signal!
Support/Resistance:
• Moving averages act as support in uptrends
• Price bounces off MA = buy opportunity!
• MA acts as resistance in downtrends
RSI (Relative Strength Index)
Momentum Oscillator 0-100 ScaleWhat It Measures: Speed and magnitude of price moves (overbought/oversold!)
How To Read:
• Above 70: Overbought (price may fall soon!)
• Below 30: Oversold (price may rise soon!)
• 50: Neutral (no clear signal)
Trading Strategies:
1. Overbought/Oversold:
• RSI > 70: Look for sell signal
• RSI < 30: Look for buy signal
2. Divergence (Advanced!):
• Price makes new high, RSI doesn't = bearish divergence (sell!)
• Price makes new low, RSI doesn't = bullish divergence (buy!)
3. Centerline Cross:
• RSI crosses above 50: Bullish momentum
• RSI crosses below 50: Bearish momentum
Pro Tip: Don't use alone! Combine with price action/patterns!
MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence)
Trend + MomentumWhat It Shows: Relationship between two moving averages (trend strength!)
Components:
• MACD Line (12 EMA - 26 EMA)
• Signal Line (9 EMA of MACD)
• Histogram (difference between MACD and Signal)
Signals:
• MACD crosses above Signal: Bullish (buy!)
• MACD crosses below Signal: Bearish (sell!)
• Histogram growing: Trend strengthening
• Histogram shrinking: Trend weakening
Best For: Identifying trend changes early!
Bollinger Bands
Volatility IndicatorWhat It Is: Three lines - middle (20 MA), upper, lower (2 standard deviations from middle)
How To Read:
• Bands squeeze: Low volatility, big move coming!
• Bands expand: High volatility
• Price at upper band: Overbought
• Price at lower band: Oversold
Trading Strategy:
• Wait for squeeze (bands narrow)
• Enter when price breaks out of bands
• Ride the move!
Note: In strong trends, price can "walk the band" (stay overbought/oversold long time!)
Volume
Confirmation Tool CRITICAL!Why Volume Matters: Shows conviction behind price moves!
Key Concepts:
• High volume breakout: Strong, likely to continue!
• Low volume breakout: Weak, likely to fail (fake breakout!)
• Volume precedes price: Volume spikes before big moves
Patterns:
• Volume climax: Massive volume spike = trend exhaustion
• Drying up volume: Less and less volume = consolidation ending
Rule: NEVER trade breakouts without volume confirmation!
π― RISK MANAGEMENT
Risk Management > Strategy
• You can have best strategy in world
• But without risk management, you WILL blow your account
• THIS IS WHY 90% FAIL!
π° Position Sizing Rules
Never risk more than 1-2% of account on single trade!
Example:
• Account size: $10,000
• 1% risk: $100
• Stock price: $50
• Stop loss: $48 (2 points risk)
• Position size: $100 ÷ $2 = 50 shares
• Total invested: $2,500 (but only risking $100!)
Why It Works:
• 10 losses in a row = only down 10%
• Account survives drawdowns!
• Removes emotional stress (small losses = no panic!)
• Can trade without fear
What Happens Without It:
• Risk 20% per trade
• 5 losses = account down 65%!
• Need 185% gain just to break even
• Game over!
π Stop Loss - Non-Negotiable!
What Is Stop Loss? Price level where you exit trade to limit loss!
Where To Place Stop Loss:
• Below support level (for long trades)
• Above resistance level (for short trades)
• Give it room to breathe (don't place too tight!)
• But not too wide (risk/reward must make sense!)
Types:
• Hard Stop: Set with broker (automatic!)
• Mental Stop: You manually exit (risky - emotions take over!)
• Trailing Stop: Moves up with price (locks in profits!)
The Hard Truth:
• "I'll just watch it" = famous last words
• Hope is not a strategy!
• Small loss becomes big loss becomes margin call!
• USE STOP LOSSES. NO EXCEPTIONS.
π Risk/Reward Ratio
What It Means: For every $1 you risk, target $2+ profit!
Example:
• Entry: $100
• Stop Loss: $98 (risk $2)
• Target: $104 (profit $4)
• Risk/Reward: 1:2 ✅
Why It Matters:
• With 1:2 R/R, you only need 35% win rate to profit!
• 10 trades: 3 wins ($12), 7 losses ($14) = Break even at 30%!
• With 1:3 R/R, only need 25% win rate!
The Math:
• 1:1 R/R: Need 50% win rate to break even
• 1:2 R/R: Need 33% win rate to break even
• 1:3 R/R: Need 25% win rate to break even
Rule: If trade doesn't offer 1:2 minimum, don't take it!
π Max Drawdown Limits
Daily Loss Limit: Stop trading if down 3-5% for the day
• Prevents revenge trading
• Saves you from emotional spiral
• Come back tomorrow with clear head
Weekly Loss Limit: Stop if down 10% for the week
• Something is off (strategy not working, market conditions changed)
• Take a break, review trades
• Don't dig deeper hole!
Monthly Max Drawdown: 20% = serious alarm!
• Stop trading immediately
• Go back to paper trading
• Review entire strategy
• Get education/mentorship
⚠️ Leverage - Handle With Care!
What Is Leverage? Borrowing money from broker to trade larger positions!
Example:
• Your money: $1,000
• 10x leverage: Trade with $10,000
• 1% market move = 10% account move!
The Trap:
• Looks great when winning (10% gain in minutes!)
• Destroys you when losing (10% loss = your entire $1,000 gone!)
Leverage Levels:
• Stocks (USA): 2x (relatively safe)
• Futures: 10-20x (very risky)
• Forex: 50-500x (INSANE risk!)
• Crypto: Up to 125x (suicide mission!)
Reality:
• 125x leverage: 0.8% move against you = account wiped to $0!
• Crypto moves 5-10% daily = instant liquidation
• Exchange gets your money (they LOVE high leverage traders!)
Safe Leverage Guidelines:
• Beginners: NO leverage or max 2x
• Intermediate: 2-5x max
• Advanced: 5-10x max (only if proven profitable!)
• Never use more than 10x (casinos have better odds!)
π§ TRADING PSYCHOLOGY
• Technical skills: 20%
• Psychology & discipline: 80%
• Most traders know WHAT to do
• But can't control emotions to DO IT!
π± Common Emotional Traps
What Happens:
• See stock shooting up
• Think "I'll miss all the gains!"
• Buy at the TOP
• Price immediately drops
• Now you're stuck with loss
Solution:
• Wait for pullback (there's ALWAYS another chance!)
• Stick to your plan (no plan = don't trade!)
• Remember: Best trade is no trade
• There are 10,000 stocks - you'll find another!
What Happens:
• Take a loss
• Feel angry/frustrated
• Immediately jump into another trade to "make it back"
• Don't follow rules (oversized position!)
• Lose again (even bigger!)
• Spiral continues...
Solution:
• Take a break after losses (walk away!)
• Daily loss limit rule (3-5% = done for day)
• Understand losses are part of game
• Journal your emotions (awareness helps!)
What Happens:
• Trade goes against you
• "It'll come back!" (hope)
• Hold loser too long = big loss
• Trade goes in your favor
• "I should take profit before it reverses!" (fear)
• Exit winner too early = small profit
• Result: Big losses, small winners = losing trader!
Solution:
• Flip it: Cut losers fast, let winners run!
• Use stop losses religiously
• Use trailing stops on winners
• Pre-define exit points BEFORE entering
What Happens:
• Taking every setup (even mediocre ones)
• Trading out of boredom
• Need for action/excitement
• Death by 1,000 cuts (commissions + small losses)
Solution:
• Quality over quantity (10 great trades > 100 okay trades)
• Wait for A+ setups only
• If bored, close platform (go for walk!)
• Remember: Best traders are patient hunters
✅ Winning Trader Mindset
1. Treat It Like A Business
• Track everything (spreadsheet!)
• Review trades weekly
• Calculate win rate, avg win/loss, R/R
• Know your stats!
2. Have A Trading Plan
• Entry criteria (what setups you trade)
• Exit criteria (stop loss, target)
• Position sizing rules
• Risk limits (daily, weekly, monthly)
• Written down & followed!
3. Accept Losses
• Losses are cost of doing business
• Even best traders lose 40-50% of trades!
• Focus on overall profitability, not single trades
• Detach emotions from outcomes
4. Stay Consistent
• Trade same strategy (don't jump around!)
• Same position sizes
• Same risk management
• Consistency = edge over time
5. Continuous Learning
• Markets evolve (what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow)
• Read books, take courses
• Study winners (what did they do right?)
• Study losers (what went wrong?)
• Never stop improving!
6. Take Care of Yourself
• Sleep 7-8 hours (tired traders make bad decisions!)
• Exercise regularly (reduces stress!)
• Eat healthy (brain needs fuel!)
• Take breaks (burnout = blown accounts!)

⚠️ FINAL WARNINGS
1. Avoid "Gurus" Selling Courses
• If they're so good at trading, why sell courses?
• Most show fake screenshots
• Real traders don't sell $2,000 courses
• Learn free from books/YouTube first!
2. No Shortcuts
• "Secret indicator that never loses!" = scam
• "Copy my trades for guaranteed profit!" = scam
• "Turn $100 into $10,000 in 30 days!" = impossible
• Trading takes years to master!
3. Don't Quit Your Job
• Need 2-3 years consistent profits first
• Need 12+ months living expenses saved
• Trading income is inconsistent
• Most "full-time traders" fail within 6 months
4. It's NOT Gambling (But...)
• Trading without plan = gambling
• Trading without education = gambling
• Trading emotionally = gambling
• Make it professional, not casino!
5. Realistic Expectations
• 5-10% monthly = professional level (most don't achieve this!)
• 50-100% yearly = extremely good
• 200%+ yearly = exceptional (or lucky + risky!)
• Anything promising more = scam
6. Taxes Are Real
• Profits are taxable income
• Day trading = short-term capital gains (higher tax!)
• Track everything for tax time
• Set aside 20-30% of profits for taxes
